Ladakh has always had a robust community mechanism to take care of its vulnerable and disadvantaged sections. These mechanisms continue to exist today as well. However, the current pace of development is infringing joint family systems, and an upward migration trend is weakening individual sections, and there is growing income and gender disparities.

Promoting livelihood improvement in rural Ladakh through experimentation and innovation in order to achieve a significant increase in income levels of target groups.

- Livelihood improvement and increased income levels through promotion of selected crops, product, technology, skill development, enterprise development and vocational trainings.
- a) Farm-based economy (agriculture, horticulture and livestock programs)
- b) Non-farm-based livelihood (IT based, handicrafts, vocational skills, food crafts, eco-tourism).
